American Canyon Students Shine Once Again at Robotics Competition

American Canyon robotics students are making an annual rite of passage of going to Davis each spring and coming home with a bounty of awards

Their success each year at UC Davis’ C-STEM Day, where high school and middle school students from Northern California spend an entire day competing and programming small modular robots called Linkbots, has spurred education officials to add robotics next year at schools in the city of Napa.

Five years in a row now, American Canyon students have participated in C-STEM Day, demonstrating their skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). They have also racked up multiple honors during four of those five competitions.

On Saturday, 65 students from American Canyon Middle School and American Canyon High School won 16 awards for both individual and team achievement.

“They did an amazing job,” said ACMS teacher Tammy Lee, who launched American Canyon’s robotics program five years ago. “We are already looking forward to CSTEM Day 2018.”
