August 2016 Board Member Spotlight
NapaLearns is honored to feature Dorothy Lind-Salmon in our Board Member Spotlight!
Known by many simply as “Auntie Dorothy,” she is a founder and proud board member of NapaLearns, who has dedicated her talent and efforts to helping ensure that every student in Napa County has the opportunity to receive a great 21st Century education. Dorothy serves on the Governance Committee and, as a tireless fundraiser for NapaLearns, she has met with potential donors and secured large donations over the past six years.
“NapaLearns has been the visionary catalyst to bring everyone together to spark innovation, culture change, and great results in our schools. Here’s to our courageous teachers, administrators and our remarkable students! Partnering with our schools and going forward together IS the magic ingredient leading to success.”
As President of the Napa Rotary Club in 1996, Dorothy was privileged to present a $50,000 check on behalf of the organization to New Technology High School — the school that helped jump start even more community and business partnerships.
“We can all be proud that over 200 New Tech Network schools across the nation came from the spark that created Napa New Technology High School twenty years ago.”
For the past twenty years Dorothy has helped lead New Tech school tours, and has served as an ongoing supporter and cheerleader for the school. She was heavily involved in the NapaLearns board planning process that led to over $2 million dollars of grants to expand the New Tech model to 14 other schools in Napa. Dorothy is especially excited to see her granddaughter begin her freshman year of high school at New Tech in August 2016!
Dorothy is involved in many other charitable programs in Napa including her work with the Queen of the Valley Foundation and her tireless efforts as Chairperson of the Pathway Home board of directors. NapaLearns and all of our school partners are so honored to have Dorothy on our team as well!
