NapaLearns, a non-profit dedicated to improving learning outcomes for children attending Napa County’s public schools, was recognized by the Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership (CVNL) for its Achievement in Nonprofit Excellence at the third annual Heart of Napa Awards ceremony.

NapaLearns was co-founded by Chuck McMinn, Rick Jones, and other community leaders in 2010. McMinn was previously a general partner at InterWest Partners, a Silicon Valley venture firm, and founder of several technology start-ups. Jones came from executive positions at McKinsey and Company and Safeway.

“Rick and I have a united vision,” said McMinn. “The quality of Napa Valley schools should be as renown as the quality of the wines we produce. Our kids deserve a top education and our community depends on a well-educated workforce to continue to fuel our economy.”
