Digital Early Learning

Leveraging technology to close the achievement gap and accelerate literacy

Research shows that if students do not master reading early on, they will always remain behind, creating what is commonly referred to as the “Achievement Gap.”

By deploying technology and digital curriculum across all Napa County preschools and elementary schools, students experience high-quality language development tools that narrow the achievement gap and prepare them to read, write, and speak English fluently.

The Challenge

    • 78% of students in Napa County public preschools are English language learners and from low-income families.
    • On average, children born into low-income families hear 30 million fewer words by the time they are 5 years old.
    • 33% of students are unprepared and behind before even entering kindergarten.
