Maker Educator Program

Teaching students STEAM skills and the engineering design process

In 2015-2016 NapaLearns piloted the Maker Movement in Napa schools by investing in several pilot teachers who attended the Sonoma State University Maker Certificate program and launched maker spaces in their classroom.

Maker Carts Installed in 7 Schools

As a result of a student project developed in one of the pilot classrooms in 2016-2017, NapaLearns shifted focus and launched 5 “Maker Carts.” Maker Carts are mobile maker labs that provide school sites with shared access to tools and lessons that teach students STEAM skills and the engineering design process. These in-demand skills are critical to success in the workforce to which students will one day compete in.

In partnership with the Napa County Office of Education, NapaLearns hosts an annual Maker Fair to showcase teacher and student projects.
